I'm not good with lineart at all - I don't know why drawing is impossibly hard for me to do. My guess? Lack of practice. I just don't have a desire to do it, though. I hate myself.

Either way, I do like coloring and inking.

If we're going to be smartasses here then I'll tell you that photorealism is in fact still symbol drawing. The act of drawing is the creation of symbols made up of lines and values arranged in a certain way to imitate real life. When you're drawing a photorealistic eye you're not actually creating a real eye, you are simply laying down charcoal in a way that resembles what an eye looks like. A heightened amount of detail does not stop something from being a symbol.

Like a flat flower with 5 oval petals, actually looking at a flower will reveal that the shapes are a lot more complex

>> No.4206093

Because most beginner exercises is meant for training confidence in putting down direct bold lines. Ballpoint pens, while non-erasabale, is very feathery. This actually can be very useful as it allows you to create very expressive images (see Kim Jung Gi). But in the context of beginner exercises, it isn't as useful as felt-tipped pens.

>> No.4206388

Ballpoint is awesome. I use it, but it's mostly for A3 sketches and real life outdoors. I even use the cheapest BIC stuff, too. People who dislike pens are 1st years of art school emphasizing rendering over merit. Start experimenting with all the mediums.

you cant break the rules until you know them inside and out, up your ass and around the corner.. yes you can draw with a ballpoint as a beglet but it's only going to hinder your performance. yes you can use msp as a beglet but it's only going to hinder your performance. if you have some fucking patience and level prior, you'll be able to come back to these simplistic mats and excel due to their simplicity. thats why you see advanced artists drawing in paint, they aren't doing it just to fuck around they're doing it because it's limitations create ingenuity

>> No.4204823
Quoted By: >>4204834

first possibility is that the original trailer was fake and they made it intentionally horrible so that they could "fix" it for good publicity, looking back, the old design was SOO bad that I find it hard to believe that it got through any quality control or test screenings AT ALL. The only problem is that this would be extremely risky and idk if a studio would have the balls to pull it off. So while plausible I think it's unlikely.
Second possibility is that they already modeled and test animated for multiple possible designs somewhere back in the pipeline and they just needed to fix things up, the new design is pretty "Standard" Sonic so it's not outside the realm of possibility that they already had test models of it.

they almost certainly only fixed the scenes that appeared in the recent trailer first, it wouldn't take that long, they are probably animating the rest of the movie still.

break down complex forms into simple shapes
use negative space
line up elements across horizontal + vertical

if your ONLY goal is to be able to draw exactly what you see then study atelier style methods, try doing bargue plates.
be patient, take it slowly, take breaks and continually ask yourself whether your drawing is on track

you can work with 1 or 2 main layers but using a lot of them like that lets you make design changes a lot easier, like editing the skin patterns/colors.

Pretty neat, I am going to try this. But isn't it true that more layers the laggier will my workflow in photoshop get? Also, how can I change contrast, hue or really anything on the overall layer group and at the same time keep the layer separated?

>> No.4208386

You can put an adjustment layer over all layers, or clip them to specific ones, or group only certain layers and clip the adjustment to the group

This is Vrogdal - my Demon OC.
My version of hell resembles a torture center. He works as a chief guard and enjoys tormenting the poor unfortunate souls using his giant sharp fork. He's also into BDSM so he most likely gets off because of this.

That's just a demon in a suit. Not a whole lot of character design happening there bud

What is the point of your thread? To boast that you can conjure up basic bitch designs (likely copied from elsewhere)? Do you just want to wag your dick in everyone's face over how amazing you are?
If you want to improve then you'll have to let go of your ego. Otherwise I don't know why you're here

Hello /ic/, i would like to start making my own webcomics. I'm not quite sure where/h9w to start. Pic related is kinda what i want to go for as far as style. Specifically, what is the "standard" or a good font to use for these webcomics and how do you get them?

Any other general advice would be appreciated, Thanks.
